I always read the books I get for Christmas. This year, I was gifted a copy of “The Four Agreements” but it’s crazy as hell. That gibberish text isn’t actually from the book, but it’s pretty damn close, and the second panel is indeed the text that prefaces the introduction. Here’s a direct quote:

“I am the Smokey Mirror, because I am looking at myself in all of you, but we don’t recognize each other because of the smoke in between us. The smoke is the Dream, and the mirror is you, the dreamer.”

Now granted, I did remove the chapter that contextualizes that. But it’s about an out-of-body experience, so it doesn’t really make it much less ridiculous. The next chapter is about explaining “paradigms” without actually using the word, instead favouring “dreams.” Leafing through, there are mentions of “dreams of heaven.”  As I read through it I had a really weird sense of deja-vu… yes. This is exactly the feeling I get when I read H.P. Lovecraft. *sigh* Try to keep the goat blood out of my nice clean comments section, okay?

Oh, and for anyone who wants it, here’s a high rez version of that last panel. It was really fun to draw~
