I always wondered how fresh the gingerbread house was. Did the witch see the kids on the trail, run ahead, and magic it up? Did she just live there? I know I’d be miffed if some tasty-looking children started chewing on my front door. Of course, that’s all beside the point of this comic.

My personal headcanon for that story is that the witch kept the house constantly as a permanent child-trap, like a spiderweb, and just magick’d it so that it repelled pests
I always thought that it was freshly conjured, or maybe that she had a normal shack that turned into a candy version when kids came near it.
Your new avatar is awesome by the way. Great for responding to people.
I kinda figured the freshness of the house is part of the mysteriousness of the magic. Like, she must be a powerful witch because having a gingerbread house makes no sense. Reality becomes more dreamlike around her.
