I wish I could say that I’ve only done this once. It’s the only way I can use my phone lying down without cramping or having my arms fall asleep. The ol’ phone to the face is a definite downside, though.
Yeah, I used to have the same effect when I would read books. “The Lord of the Rings” hard copy unabridged was the worst. Had to have corrective surgery.
The worst part about doing this with books is the combined loss of immersion and loss of page. It feels like falling out of a world while having that world land on your face.
I would have laughed harder had I not already done this with, my phone, my iPad, the hard cover edition of 4th book in Robert Jorden’s Wheel of Time series, the hard cover edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,…….I’m really lucky that I don’t have any more brain damage then I already do.
A girl in China(I think) did that with an ipad and broke some teeth.

Wearable fixes all of that~
I feel a little bad for laughing at your pain… a little bit.
That’s why I just sit up in bed if I’m playing with my phone. The hardest thing it can hit is my blanket.
It’s like having an especially awesome recliner, provided you get some back padding.

I did this with goblet of fire a few times. Now I’m a webcomic artist!
So yes, definitely concern yourself about the possibility of brain damage.
